Zimbabwean-born artist Kudzanai Chiurai uses his African art to address difficult topics such as government corruption, xenophobia and the displacement of people due to conflict and globalisation. This piece on One Source Live by the artist who was exiled for a less-than-flattering take on Robert Mugabe, depicts the results of conflict resolution in Africa. It is part of his collection ‘Conflict Resolution’, which grapples with the issue of conflict in the contemporary moment in Africa. He aims to communicate with the youth of Africa, those of the ‘Born-Free Generation’ of the continent (Chiurai was born a year after Zimbabwe’s independence) and spark change in their countries.
